One of our favourite places to visit is the pretty village of Luss. It's only about 20 minutes drive from Gareloch Cottage and is situated on the western shore of Loch Lomond.
On the day we visited during our stay in early November, the weather - not surprisingly - was really mixed so we ended up with sudden downpours in between bright sunshine - and a rainbow! We managed to capture the remnants of the rainbow as it was overlapping the mountains across the loch.
The weather wasn't a deterrent to visitors! As we were walking across the sandy beach there was a group enjoying a bbq and a family playing with their dogs; who were not put off going in and out of the cold water!
The pier has lovely views right across the loch - even at this time of the year there was a small cruise ship out on the water with tourists.

We took this photo (above) to illustrate the various activities on offer around Luss Beach if you want to visit. Most are available throughout the year and can be booked at short notice, but it's probably a good idea to check out the website

Walking through the village itself you'll come across a lovely selection of gift shops and cafes. We popped into Luss General Store which is a large gift shop with a really good selection of quality local products to buy to remind you of your trip.

Luss is well worth a trip - hopefully you'll get better weather when we did, but either way it's a lovely place to check out whilst you're staying at Gareloch Cottage.
