'Foodie' events at Loch Lomond Shores this summer!

If you're a 'Foodie' and love discovering (and tasting!) local seasonal produce, we've got some tasty summer time FREE events to tell you about over at Loch Lomond Shores

Located on the edge of Loch Lomond in Balloch, it's only about half an hour's drive from Gareloch Cottage so it's easy to plan a day trip there.

Loch Lomond Shores is a destination in itself - home to numerous retail, cafe and restaurants, specialist events and indoor and outdoor activities. It also offers free parking and is dog friendly.

Here's what's in store:

Farmers Market: the first and third Sunday of every month


If you're idea of weekend heaven is mooching around a busy food and drinks market packed with delicious products, this is for you! It's all local and seasonal food and drink - home made bread, cakes, pies, smoked fish and meat, fruit and veg. There's also a smattering of artisans selling handmade crafts, soaps, candles and unique gift ideas. Fill up on tasty hot takeaway food whilst you're on the move.

A lovely trip to discover some new ingredients to make a special dish when you're back at the cottage later - or just to sample new delicacies whilst you're in Scotland!

Loch Lomond Summer Fest: Saturday 6 - Sunday 7 July

A fully packed weekend of entertainment, family events, market stalls, street food and hopefully some sunshine!

Continental Market Weekend: Saturday 10 - Sunday 11 August


For those of you that just love to explore food and crafts on a global scale! This market showcases food and drink from around the world (just if you fancy comparing to Scottish delights!)

Loch Lomond Food and Drink Festival: Saturday 7 - Sunday 8 September


Just to give you an idea of the scale of this event - it's a major one in the Scottish diary and is visited by up to 40,000 - so it maybe a good idea to get an early start!

Encompassing the whole paved outside areas at Loch Lomond Shores and with over 100 vendors, this event is a stunning selection of food and drink. There's whisky and gin tastings, lots of chef demonstrations and workshops and a big range of foodie treats to enjoy during the day. They also put on live music, artisan craft stalls and entertainment suitable for all the family.

Adults can enjoy a drink overlooking the loch as there's a licenced outside area overlooking the loch.

Weekend Extras...

Throughout June, July and August there's an outdoor market every Sunday which is open from 10am - 4pm.Featuring a range of gift ideas and fresh produce it's a lovely way to while away a day out. There's also outdoor hot food stalls every Saturday and Sunday with picnic table on the beach and promontory so you can admire the amazing views at the same time!
