A little photo tour of Gareloch Cottage - with some new pics!

From the moment we purchased Gareloch Cottage, we've enjoyed taking photos of the house, garden and surrounding location as it's evolved with the various changes we've made a long the way.

We've been welcoming guests since March 2021 so that's a lot of photos - it's great to look back and remember how we started and how far we've come!

Having personal photographs on our website (and listings) is important to guests so they can get a feel for our cottage. However, recently we thought it would be great to have a professional set done too - to show off our little cottage to it's best advantage!

We're really pleased with the outcome - none of the rooms has been 'propped' so what you can see in the photos is exactly how it looks for guest stays.

We've posted a small selection for your perusal!

I think this is probably our favourite room in the house (and many of our guests would agree).

The double bedroom is a little gem - with direct access out on to the terrace plus the birds eye view from the window seat from the moment you wake up, to when you go to sleep - you have the view across Gareloch. Little boats bobbing up and down in the water, the beautiful wildlife and the twinkly lights across the bay at night.

Waking up to (whatever the weather may be - after all it's Scotland) - we've captured some amazing sunrises early morning, as well as some stunning sunsets at dusk.

It can be pretty cosy in bed when it's raining too, although sitting out with a coffee is the perfect start to the day.

The double bedroom has the features of the original (non working) cast iron fireplace and double Victorian window shutters. There's also a small adjoining dressing room with wardrobe space and a full length mirror plus a hair dryer for guest use so you don't have to pack your own!

This room can be overlooked if we're honest as the 'second bedroom' it's a pretty quiet space. It's got the lovely aspect of the view right across the back garden so guests may be lucky enough to see a Doe first thing in the morning from the window!

It get's very sunny in here so it's nice to put your feet up and have a read on the bed if you get time!

Adjoining the open living room space here's a photo of our snug. When we first opened for letting, we allowed guests to use this room as an extra place to sleep as there's a small double sofa bed in here.

For now, we've changed it back to an additional chill out space - there's no TV so guests can just have quiet time if they want to. It's also useful for guests with small children to play in.

There's a lovely oak wardrobe which can be used for additional storage for your stay, plus the original Victorian fireplace is a lovely feature of this room. It sits next to the downstairs bathroom too!

This is a great photo of the living room space as it highlights the full set up for guests of a living /dining room. The table is set up so you can watch TV during meal times if you want to, plus guests can also use this area for remote working too.

In front of the dining seating is the cosy 3 seater settee and wooden bookcases with a selection of books guests can thumb through if they fancy it.

Above: the kitchen

This is a good view of the kitchen as you can see straight through to the living room where the dining table is set up. It's a galley kitchen - small and cosy so if there's 3 guests staying you may want to take it in turns to cook! We've set it up with everything you need for a self catering break so that includes a dish washer, washing machine, fridge freezer, double electric oven and hob, toaster and coffee machine.

Guests are supplied with fresh coffee (there's a Cafeteria), some complimentary coffee pods for our Lavazza coffee machine, milk, teabags and a few basic kitchen supplies.

The kitchen has a small porch (set up with dog bowl for pet guests) leading out to the back garden.

So leading out from our kitchen porch this is the next view. To your right is a picnic bench. We've enjoyed many a meal and get together with neighbours out here when the weather's permitted it. The garden gets quite a lot of sun from lunchtime onwards which is perfect for al fresco dining.

Up the steps on to the lawn you'll see our summer house which is for private use. The garden is enclosed by shrubbery and is fairly quiet and private.

Above: the downstairs bathroom

Our modern bathroom is next to the Snug. We must admit, when we first purchased Gareloch Cottage, we weren't sure about a downstairs bathroom it seemed a bit 'old fashioned'. However we've embraced it - along with the history of the house it's part and parcel of it's character. We had the bathroom fully refurbished and it recently had a brand new shower fitted - the rain forest shower head is powerful, so we get good feedback from guests about that which is great!

Above: the first floor terrace

Love this photo! Our terrace has so much green around it, and right opposite of course is the amazing terrace view of Gareloch. We had the terrace fully re-fitted with composite boards so it's non slippy even in the rain. Set up with outdoor furniture, you'll see a couple of black boxes on the left. One of these is for guest use - and has some outdoor furnishings you can use. On the landing is a solar lamp and extra throws if you want to cosy up during chilly weather.

It's probably one of the most favourite guest features of the house - we just wish we could conjure up lots of sunshine for everyone's visit so they could enjoy it all the time.

If you haven't stayed with us yet - or are previous guests and fancy another visit - take a look at our latest availability on our calendar to book with us!
